- Weizmann Institute Homepage
As a result of the efforts on the part of our scientists, staff, and friends, the past year, 1998/99, was finally sound and ended in a surplus. In fact, if the sum owed to us by the Israeli Government's Planning and Budgeting Committee is taken into account, it can at last be said that the accumulated historic deficit has been eliminated.
Over the past two years, considerable sums have been invested in the Institute's infrastructure, which for the most part is disturbingly old. We plan to continue in this direction in the coming years if financially feasible. Our goal is to upgrade the Insitute's infrastructure in full over the next few years - so as to free research efforts as much as possible from technical obstacles.
Income and Expenditures
All figures are given in adjusted new Israeli sekels (ANIS) as of September 30, 1999. The rate at that time stood at NIS 3.845 to 1 U.S. dollar. ANIS is the shekel adjusted to a constant value, neutralizing distortions resulting from inflation.
