Prof. David Mukamel, Dean of the Physics Faculty

Prof. David Mukamel studies the way in which the properties of materials are altered in response to such environmental changes as temperature, magnetic fields, and pressure. His research targets a better understanding of phase transitions, spontaneous symmetry breaking, and other collective phenomena in equilibrated and dynamic systems. He obtained his Ph.D. at the Weizmann Institute in 1974 and has served as Dean of the Weizmann Institute's Faculty of Physics since 1995. A member of Israel's Council for Higher Education since 1992, his awards include the J. F. Kennedy Prize and the Keren Bat Sheva de Rothschild Prize.

Prof. Mukamel holds the Harold J. and Marion F. Green Professorial Chair.
