Logic and thinking games were the theme of a unique conference that recently took place at the Davidson Institute of Science Education. The fifth Games and Puzzles Mini-Conference attracted approximately 150 participants, from young enthusiasts of mind-challenging games and riddles to “professional” collectors, who possess a repertoire of thousands of games from all over the world, to game creators themselves. Attendees were free to play, share and swap games, puzzles and riddles that they had brought with them.

In addition to this informal gathering, a series of short enriching lectures presented the creative and “playful” aspects of mathematics. Solutions to puzzles were revealed, including that of the Rubik’s Cube, which was demonstrated by the world champion of blindfolded cube solving, Dror Vomberg.
