Prof. Samuel Safran, Dean of the Feinberg Graduate School
Prof. Samuel Safran, a physicist who studies the structure and organization of soft matter and biomaterials - a field that is also of interest to chemists and biologists - joined the Weizmann Institute in 1990 as a professor in the Materials and Interfaces Department. Dean of the Feinberg Graduate School since 1995, he is the author of a graduate-level textbook on the physics of membranes and interfaces and has also edited and contributed to several other books. He was elected a Fellow of the American Physical Society and is a member of the American Chemical Society, the Materials Research Society, and the European Physical Society. Prof. Safran is the first incumbent of the Fern and Manfred Steinfeld Professorial Chair.
