The Weizmann Institute of Science is committed to providing websites that are accessible to people with disabilities, thereby enabling everyone to access information on our websites easily.

The Weizmann Wonder Wander website was created and/or updated according to the provisions of the Equal Rights for People with Disabilities Law, 5748-1998, and the delegated legislation stemming from it, and comply with the W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0, AA level.

WEBSITE ACCESSIBILITY FEATURES

Accessibility Menu

Every page within a website includes an accessibility menu, which offers the following options:

  • Changing displayed font size (Font size can also be increased and decreased via the browser’s Zoom settings. After choosing the suitable size, the page needs to be refreshed by pressing the F5 button for the changes to take effect).
  • Changing color contrast
  • Underlining links
  • Navigating to the Accessibility Statement page
     

Navigation to various areas on the website

Once the page loads, you can navigate through the various sections of the page by clicking the TAB key on the keyboard.

List of accessibility features available on the website

  • Links – use the TAB key to move between links. The user will be notified if links open in a new window
  • Images – includes Alternative text describing what is in the picture
  • Image Gallery – navigate between next and previous pictures and close the window
  • Videos – videos contain captions, and the ability to navigate between the controls
  • Picture Slideshow – pause, play and navigate between pictures
  • Screen readers – Works according to ARIA rules
  • Compatible with NVDA screen reader software

 

TECHNOLOGICAL EXEMPTIONS

This site uses various third-party platforms, which provide media streaming services (audio and video), and carousels. These services are embedded in the website via HTML Inline Frame elements (Iframe), which are not under our full control to render the services fully accessible.

The services include:

  • YouTube – Video streaming service
  • SoundCloud – Audio and podcast streaming service
  • Outbrain – Content discovery platform according to users’ interests
  • SlickSlider – An open source library of accessible carousels. This component is in active development to provide a fully accessible product. We will update the widget to the full accessible version as soon as it is available.

 

ACCESSIBILITY RESTRICTIONS AND ACCESSIBILITY INQUIRIES

The Weizmann Institute does its utmost to make the content of all webistes fully accessible. However, since many of the websites linked from Weizmann Institute websites are operated and physically maintained by entities other than the Institute’s Division of Information Systems, the Institute cannot ensure that these entities fully comply with the provisions of any law.
