Prof. Yaron Silberberg Dean, Physics Faculty

A graduate of the Feinberg Graduate School, Prof. Yaron Silberberg's area of expertise is ultrafast optics and nonlinear optics. He spent several years as a physicist at the Israel Defense Forces and at Bellcore Labs, New Jersey. He joined the Weizmann Institute's Physics of Complex Systems Department in 1994 and was appointed its Head in 1999. In 2002 he became Dean of the Physics Faculty and is the Head of the Center of Experimental Physics. He has made major contributions to the field of optical physics, including the invention of third-harmonic generation microscopy. Currently he is developing a new method of laser microscopy as well as novel ultrafast optical communication devices. Prof. Silberberg is a Fellow of the Optical Society of America and has served as an editor of its journal.
