A 1968 graduate of the Weizmann Institute’s Feinberg Graduate School, Prof. David Mirelman joined the faculty of the Biophysics Department in 1970. In 1987, he was appointed Chairman of the Board of YEDA Research and Development Co., the Weizmann Institute’s technology transfer arm. In 1993, he was nominated to fill the newly established post of Vice President for Technology Transfer. In 1998, he completed his term of office and was appointed Dean of the Institute’s Faculty of Biochemistry. He heads the Y. Leon Benoziyo Institute for Molecular Medicine, established within the framework of the Jubilee Endowmnet Drive. An expert in the area of infectious diseases and molecular parasitology, he has received many awards. Prof. Mirelman holds the Besen-Brender Chair of Microbiology and Parasitology.
