Prof. Samuel Safran

Prof. Samuel Safran, a physicist who works on the theory of novel materials that are also of interest to chemistry and biology, joined the staff of the Weizmann Institute in 1990 as a professor at the Materials and Interfaces Department. Dean of the Feinberg Graduate School since 1995, he is the author of a graduate-level textbook on the physics of membranes and interfaces and has also been an editor of and contributor to several other books. He was elected Fellow of the American Physical Society and is a member of the American Chemical Society, the Materials Research Society, and the European Physical Society. Prof. Safran is the first incumbent of the Fern and Manfred Steinfeld Professorial Chair.
