Prof. Yoram Groner – Vice President of the Weizmann Institute

Since Prof. Yoram Groner joined the Weizmann Institute in 1975 he has been appointed to a number of posts. He headed the Weizmann Institute’s Biological Services (1985-1988), the Department of Virology (1987-1989), the Department of Genetics and Virology (1989-1992), and the Harry Levine Center of Applied Research (1988-1992). In 1993, he was appointed Institute Vice President and he heads the Kekst Family Center for Medical Genetics, established within the framework of the Jubilee Endowment Drive. He has received numerous awards for his research on the genetic and molecular basis of such disorders as Down’s Syndrome and Alzheimer’s. He is a member of the European Molecular Biology Organization Council and the Israeli National Council for Research and Development. Prof. Groner holds the Dr. Barnet Berris Chair of Cancer Research.
