Dr. Rafi Safadi makes his way daily from his home in Nazereth to the Weizmann Institute of Science campus. Until recently, he served as Head of the Research Unit and head of a physics education group at the Academic Arab College for Education in Haifa. He has now been appointed visiting scientist in the Institute's Science Teaching Department, where he has joined the group of Dr. Edit Yerushalmi. Together they are devising a novel development model that provides high school physics teachers with a variety of methods to assess their students' problem-solving skills in physics. A year-long implementation of this model in the Arab sector has shown that it has helped teachers to better understand their students' needs and tailor innovative physics instruction strategies
