The Davidson Institute of Science Education recently celebrated its fifth anniversary with a conference entitled: “Science Education for All and Science for Tomorrow’s Scientists: Two Links in One Chain.”  The highlight of the conference was a series of short presentations on the popular projects that are being carried out by the Institute, ranging from afternoon classes on contemporary science for advanced students to special science programs for high school dropouts. Other projects include the use of laptops for every teacher and child in classrooms, popular science courses for the general public and teacher training programs. The conference ended with a panel discussion moderated by Davidson Institute Founder and Chairman, Prof. Haim Harari, who thanked Bill Davidson of Detroit for his vision and generosity in establishing the Institute’s substantial endowment. Panel participants were Weizmann Institute President, Prof. Daniel Zajfman; Prof. Anat Zohar of the Ministry of Education; and CEO of ELOP Ltd., Haim Rousso, who serves as Chair of the Education Committee of the Association of Israeli Industry.
