Prof. Benjamin Geiger received his Ph.D. from the Weizmann Institute in 1977. He has been a member of the Institute faculty since 1979, when he joined the Chemical Immunology Department. Previous Institute positions held by Geiger include Dean of the Feinberg Graduate School from 1989 to 1995 and Head of the Molecular Cell Biology Department from its 1995 inception until 2004. He is Head of the Clore Center for Biological Physics. He has played leading roles in various national and international scientific forums, including the European Molecular Biology Organization, and over the years, has volunteered his time to set new science curricula in the Israeli educational system. Prof. Geiger researches the mechanisms responsible for communication between cells, both normal and cancerous, and the specific molecules playing a role in these cellular interactions. He is the incumbent of the Erwin Neter Professorial Chair in Cell and Tumor Biology.
