Prof. Haim Garty

 

Prof. Haim Garty completed his Ph.D. in biophysics at the Weizmann Institute in 1980. His research focuses on the hormonal regulation of ion and water transport in the kidney. An understanding of this vital process could lead to new therapies targeting hypertension and other kidney disorders. He headed the Institute's Biological Chemistry Department for five years, beginning in 1997, and the Life Science section at the Israel Science Foundation from 1999 to 2002. He has served as Director of the Dr. Josef Cohn Minerva Center for Biomembranes since 1999 and assumed the position of Vice President for Technology Transfer in January 2002. He serves on the editorial board of several scientific journals, including the American Journal of Physiology and the Journal of General Physiology. He is the incumbent of the Hella and Derrick Kleeman Chair of Biochemistry.
