Prof. Lia Addadi, Dean, Feinberg Graduate School

Prof. Lia Addadi completed her Ph.D. at the Weizmann Institute in 1979 in the area of structural chemistry. Her research interests include biomineralization, molecular recognition, antibody interactions with organized surfaces and the molecular mechanism of cell adhesion.

Research in these fields may further the understanding of such diseases as osteoporosis and atherosclerosis, as well as of amyloid-related diseases such as Alzheimer’s.

She has also provided new insights into the design of materials with unique properties. In 2001 she was appointed Dean of the Faculty of Chemistry, and in 2008 she became Dean of the Feinberg Graduate School. Her numerous awards include the Prelog Medal in Stereochemistry by the ETH (Federal Polytechnic Institute, Zurich, Switzerland) and the Spiers Medal of the Royal Society of Chemistry. Prof. Addadi holds the Dorothy and Patrick E. Gorman Professorial Chair.
