Science on Tap 2013
Weizmann Institute scientists and research fellows took to 61 bars and cafes across Tel Aviv, where they shared with the public the excitement that accompanies scientific research at the forefront of human knowledge. The event took place on Wednesday, 24 April, 2013, at 20:30.
Are there parallel realities? What is the ultimate fate of the Universe? How was life created? Is it possible to create an artificial brain? Is nuclear fusion the solution to the energy crisis? What is personalized medicine? Is it possible to learn during sleep? Why do stars explode? And are we really made of stardust? These are just a few of the questions that the Weizmann scientists discussed with the public.
Beer, Science and Good Spirits
Some 20 Weizmann Institute of Science graduate students as well as Weizmann Institute president, Prof. Daniel Zajfman, vice-president, Prof. Israel Bar-Joseph and Prof. Irit Dinur, spoke about some hot topics in science research, women in science, and education - with people at pubs, restaurants and coffee shops in Rehovot, Israel.

The Brain in the 21st Century
To help celebrate International Brain Awareness Week, Weizmann Institute scientists and research students met with the public in pubs and coffee shops in Rehovot and Ness Tziona to give them a taste of the satisfaction that comes from scientific activity. The informal meetings over a cup of coffee or a beer, focused on research into memory and insight.
