כוכב קטן ומוזר, הממוקם בקרבת מרכז גלקסיית שביל החלב, עשוי להיות "כוכב הקווארקים" הראשון שהתגלה מעולם. כך סבור פרופ' ולדימיר אוסוב ממכון ויצמן למדע. דו"ח המחקר שבו מצביע אוסוב על האפשרות הזאת התפרסם באחרונה בכתבי העת המדעיים "אסטרופיסיקל ג'ורנל" ו"פיסיקל רוויו לטרס". למעשה, על פי מחקריו וניתוחיו של פרופ' אוסוב, נראה כי הכוכבהייחודי הזה עשוי מקווארקים הדחוסים זה לעומת זה בעוצמה רבה.
