By Nofit Milstein REHOVOT, Israel - May 7, 1998 - Mix one party-loving, fun-seeking Israeli college student with one 12-year-old, newly-arrived Russian immigrant. Add one disadvantaged child whose father is in jail or an Ethiopian girl living in a cramped, shabby trailer who has never seen a movie nor splashed freely with other children in a cool blue pool. Repeat at least twice a week for 12 months. Watch mixture mature and become almost inseparable.

REHOVOT, Israel - October 13, 1997 - An elite group of high-school mathematics students from the former Soviet Union have learned that, if you want to get to Israel, you have to do your homework. These 19 students, who visited Israel recently, were chosen from among 3,000 participants in a special math enrichment program designed at the Weizmann Institute of Science and administered by Israel's Foreign Ministry.

REHOVOT, Israel - July 1, 1997 - Winners of their nations' top science competitions are among the participants in the Weizmann Institute of Science's 29th Dr. Bessie F. Lawrence International Summer Science Institute that will run from July 2 to August 1. The annual summer program brings together outstanding high school graduates from around the world and offers them the opportunity to learn directly from scientists at the Weizmann Institute.

REHOVOT, Israel - June 3, 1997 - A record number of master's degrees and a large number of doctorates were awarded at the Feinberg Graduate School's annual graduation ceremony at the Weizmann Institute of Science last night (Monday, June 2). Among the 161 graduates was a high proportion of immigrants from the former Soviet Union, reflecting the huge wave of immigration to Israel from that area earlier this decade.

REHOVOT, Israel -- June 4, 1996 -- A record number of doctoral degrees was conferred at the Feinberg Graduate School's annual graduation ceremony held on the Weizmann Institute campus on Sunday, June 2. The 87 Ph.D.s were the largest number awarded since the graduate school was founded in 1958; a large number of M.Sc. degrees was also conferred. The high figures largely reflect the huge wave of immigration to Israel from the former Soviet Union in recent years.
