The Weizmann Institute Logo: the Tree of Life

Weizmann Institute of Science logo

It is thought that the original drawing of the tree of life, which became the basis of the logo for the Daniel Sieff Research Institute (1934) and, after it, the Weizmann Institute, was the work of the German-Jewish architect Erich Mendelsohn, who planned, among other things, Weizmann House. He may have been assisted in the design of the lettering by the typographer Francesca Baruch. After undergoing a number of changes over the years, the logo assumed in 2001 the design it bears today.
